JACK VANCE, IN MEMORIAM: 1916 - 2013
posted by: Menno May 29 20:57 2013
Jack Vance passed away at home on the evening of Sunday May 26, 2013, ending a long, rich and productive life. Recognized most widely as an author, family and friends also knew a generous, large-hearted, rugged, congenial, hard-working, optimistic and unpretentious individual whose curiosity, sense of wonder and sheer love of life were an inspiration in themselves. Author, friend, father and grandfather – there will never be another like Jack Vance.

New ways to search

The way you can search has been changed quite a bit. You can now use boolean logic to refine your queries.
Please take a look at the examples at the help page. From now on you can restrict your query to a specific book.
Improved results

Today we have fixed some quirks that in some cases left out one or two paragraphs. We did a complete reparsing of the texts. Now the database is filled with the correct data and Totality will return better results.

People who have been registered for more than 30 days will automatically gain slope and break into Wedge. Wedge can participate in the Totality Quiz and can get more results returned.

Totality Online!

This to announce the Grand Opening of the TOTALITY Online service, which should be of more than passing interest to any Vancean Scholar.

TOTALITY Online is a search engine based on the complete works of Jack Vance. It originated as a database developed by Kilo Volt to aid the VIE project in multiple ways -- see various articles published in Cosmopolis.

Under the aegis of the Vance family, we have built a magnificent site around the vocabulary search function from the original TOTALITY, also known as the Incredible String Retriever.
